See your full submission funnel

Three metrics tell the whole story: who saw your form, who started it, and who finished it.

Views
How many people landed on your form page
100%
Starts
How many people interacted with at least one field
~68%
Completions
How many people submitted the form successfully
~42%

The gap between starts and completions is where you lose respondents — formwhale helps you close it.

Analytics built for form builders

Everything you need to understand form performance, without a data team.

Daily submission trends
See how submissions track day-by-day. Spot spikes from campaigns, drops from broken links, or seasonal patterns — and act on them.
Completion rate tracking
Your overall completion rate tells you how compelling your form is. A low rate means your form is too long, confusing, or asking for too much.
Submission volume overview
Total submissions at a glance, with breakdowns by form. See which forms are driving the most responses and focus your optimisation effort there.
Per-form analytics dashboard
Each form has its own analytics view. See the funnel, submission history, and trends for any form individually — not lumped together.
Organisation-wide overview
The dashboard gives managers a bird's-eye view across all forms in the organisation — total views, total submissions, and overall conversion.
Drop-off point analysis
Identify which fields cause the most abandonment. Long forms, sensitive questions, or confusing fields show up clearly so you can fix the right thing.

Who uses form analytics — and how

Analytics turns guesswork into decisions for teams across industries.

Marketing teams
Track how many leads your campaign landing page forms are converting. See which campaigns drive completions, not just clicks, and report actual pipeline contribution.
HR departments
Monitor job application form completion rates. A low rate often means the application is too long — analytics tells you exactly where candidates are giving up.
Nonprofits & churches
See how many community members are registering for events vs just viewing. Adjust communication strategies based on real engagement data.
Event organisers
Track RSVP form performance in real time. Know when to send reminder emails by watching submission volume flatten — analytics shows you the right moment.
Healthcare & intake teams
Ensure patient intake forms are being completed before appointments. Low completion rates signal friction in the pre-visit process that needs addressing.
Education & admissions
Track student application and enrolment form conversions. Identify which programme pages drive the highest form completion and double down on what works.

Frequently asked questions

What analytics does formwhale provide?
formwhale tracks three core funnel metrics for each form: views (how many people saw the form), starts (how many interacted with at least one field), and completions (how many submitted). Pro users also get daily submission trend charts, per-form dashboards, and drop-off analysis by field.
Is analytics available on the free plan?
Basic submission counts are visible on all plans. The full funnel view (views → starts → completions), daily trends, and drop-off analysis are Pro features. Upgrade to Pro to unlock the complete analytics suite.
What is "drop-off analysis" and why does it matter?
Drop-off analysis shows you which fields in your form are causing the most abandonment — i.e., where people stop filling out the form. This is valuable because it tells you exactly what to fix. A long text field asking for a full bio, or a required field asking for sensitive information, often causes drop-offs that are invisible without this data.
How does the completion rate get calculated?
Completion rate is completions divided by views, expressed as a percentage. A form with 1,000 views and 420 successful submissions has a 42% completion rate. Industry averages vary by form type — a simple contact form might achieve 80%+, while a long job application might see 20–30%.
Can I export analytics data?
Submission data can be exported as CSV from your submissions view. Analytics charts and funnel data are currently available in-app. If you need raw analytics exports for external BI tools, get in touch — we're building this out for enterprise customers.
