Any time you need a record of consent, agreement, or acknowledgment — formwhale handles it.

Liability Waivers

Youth camps, fitness studios, adventure activities — collect signed waivers digitally. No printing, no filing, no chasing paper forms.

Medical consent, parental consent for minors, photography release — forms that require explicit agreement are easy to build and deploy.

Service Contracts

Freelancers, consultants, and small businesses can collect signed agreements before work begins — without a separate e-sign tool.

Membership Agreements

Clubs, associations, churches, and community organisations can get signed membership terms as part of the registration process.

Rental & Booking Agreements

Property managers, equipment rentals, and event venues can collect signed terms of use alongside booking details — all in one form.

Policy Acknowledgements

HR teams and compliance managers can document that employees or members have read and accepted a policy — with a date-stamped signature.

How it works

How signature forms work in formwhale

1

Add a signature field

Drag the Signature field into your form. Place it anywhere — after your terms text, at the end of a waiver, or inline with other fields.

2

Respondents sign on-screen

On desktop or mobile, respondents draw their signature directly in the browser. No plugins, no downloads, no friction.

3

Signature saved with the submission

Each signature is stored as an image alongside the full form response. Download it, share it, or keep it on record — it's yours.

The honest comparison

We built what the others charge for

Most form builders treat e-signatures as a premium add-on. formwhale includes it on every plan — including Free.

Frequently asked questions

Is the signature field available on the free plan?
Yes. The signature field is a core part of formwhale and is available on all plans, including Free. You don't need to upgrade to collect signatures.
Are formwhale e-signatures legally binding?
formwhale collects a drawn signature as an image, alongside a timestamp and the respondent's submission data. This is sufficient for most standard use cases such as waivers, consent forms, and internal agreements. For high-stakes legal documents (deeds, regulated financial instruments), consult a legal professional about your specific requirements.
How is the signature stored?
Signatures are captured as images and saved with the form submission record. You can view them in the submissions dashboard, download individual responses, or export in bulk.
Can respondents sign on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The signature canvas works with touch input on phones and tablets. Respondents draw their signature with a finger or stylus, and the result is saved cleanly.
Can I combine the signature field with other fields?
Absolutely. Add a signature field anywhere in your form — alongside text fields, dropdowns, file uploads, or any other field type. A common pattern is to put a rich-text section showing the terms, then a signature field directly below it.
Does Typeform support e-signatures?
No. As of now, Typeform does not offer a native signature field. If you need forms with signatures, formwhale is a strong alternative — and the signature field is available on every plan including Free.
